Do you remember the cute craft {designed by creative Kristyn} guests at our Elmers party made for the upcoming red & green holiday?
Bet you didn't think know it was so cheap to make!
Even better, if you have a stash of scrapbook paper & tulle lying around then it's f r e e ;) Sweet!
Read on to make your own JOY banner:
What you'll need to get started:Solid cardstock {2 red, 2 green} Patterned scrapbook paper {we used dots/stripes} Glue stick, Hot glue gun, Scissors, Tulle or ribbon
Let's get started, shall we?
1. Decide on the shape of your banner. We did a pennant but you can do the standard triangles or whatever suits your fancy. Make 2 patterns: one large & one smaller {see pic.} Use the larger pennant with the solid cardstock and smaller pennant with the patterned cardstock. Now cut cut cut!
2. Glue the smaller pennant onto the larger pennant:
3. Make your paper accordions. Cut strips half the width of what you would like your paper accordion to be. For example, if you want a 4" accordion, then cut your strips 2" wide. You will need 2 strips per accordion. Zig-zag the entire length of each strip. Hot glue the ends of zig-zagged strips together. Hold until dry:
4. Hoy glue your accordions to your pennants.
5. Trace JOY letters {Coney Island font} onto glitter paper by cutting out the letters then tracing them backwards on the glittered paper. Simply cut out the letters and glue to the center of the accordions:
My maiden name is Joy, so I think this is cute and fun to make for my Dad and step mom:)
