I have been itching to make a felt necklace but couldn't decide on what colors to make... so after a suggestion from our clever sis' friend Angie, I went with all of them!
Introducing the interchangeable felt necklace:
The gray rosettes are permanent but the mustard yellow rosette is interchangeable... see?
I can get 3 different looks of the same necklace!
Brilliant :)
Here's the skinny if YOU want to make one:
{Supplies needed}
8 1/2 x 11 piece of gray felt, cut in fourths
1/4 piece of felt for each interchangeable rosette
1/2 sheet of scrap felt for backing
hot glue
fabric scissors
14" necklace chain
velcro
{Directions}
1. Freehand a cinnamon roll shape onto each piece of gray felt, cutting wavy {the wave will give it texture.}
2. This is what your strip should look like!
3. Roll into a rosette, starting with the outside of the felt, not the inside part of the "cinnamon roll," adding dabs of hot glue every inch or so as you go.
4. Once you get to the end of your tail, simply hot glue flat on the bottom.
Repeat the process until you have your little cluster of rosettes... oh, here's a shot of mine patiently waiting to be made into a pretty little necklace :)
Now the easy fun part!
Lay your rosettes in the shape of the necklace onto a scrap piece of felt:
Slide your necklace chain in between the top rosettes and the scrap fabric before and THEN glue, like so:
PS: I didn't use a clasp... I made the chain long enough to simply slide over my head. It's just because I'm lazy easier!
Glue down all of the rosettes EXCEPT the interchangeable one...
...you get to glue a little square of velcro to those puppies ;)
Now all you have left is to trim the scrap felt and admire your newest piece of jewelry:
I {♥♥♥} It!
. . . . . . . . . . . .
This is brilliant and will be my Friday Fun Find this week!!
