Hello Lolly Jane fans! I am thrilled to be guest posting here today, showing off my cabinet door turned ombre sign.
My name is Carrie and my bloggy home is Lovely Etc.
I actually just discovered Lolly Jane a few months ago and now I’m hooked. I love all the bright, cheerful projects that Kristi and Kelli come up with. My favorite thing is using vintage finds and original creations to make my home unique and personal. And I really love to take something that others see as ugly or useless and help it become something beautiful. Lately I have been really into creating hand painted signs. Here are some of my recent creations.
Today I wanted to share one of my latest sign creations. This happens to be one of my favorites – plus it was actually one of the easiest to create. Love it when that happens.
I started out with an old cabinet door I found at the Habitat for Humanity Restore. First I freshened it up with a quick coat of white paint. For the lettering I used some awesome rubber stamps I picked up at a yard sale a few years ago. You can find similar ones here. Or you could use stencils for a similar effect. (Though the beauty of the stamps is how quick and easy they are). I hadn’t tried any ombre projects yet and this seemed like the perfect time. So I pulled out some turquoise paint. (There is a very good chance I may be a hoarder of turquoise paint). Just mix it with varying amounts of white paint to lighten it to four different shades.
I love how it turned out. This Emerson quote makes me so ready for the beautiful carefree days of summer.
Thanks for letting me share. And be sure to drop by and visit me at Lovely Etc. anytime and catch me on FB and/or Pinterest too!
