Well, we are excited to welcome miracle #2
It was an absolute surprise after being married for almost 9 years with no luck of conceiving but we are simply thrilled for this little addition to our family.....

To flow with my exciting baby news, the talented Christina Johnson has a great article showcasing decorating how-to's for the nursery.  She works for the popular Elliman Purdential real estate co who operates out of NY/The Hamptons.  These are some great tips!  Thank you for sharing, Chistina:

Thanks to the miracle of modern science, most expectant parents know in advance if the little bundle of joy they are expecting is a boy or a girl. With plenty of time to plan the nursery, there’s no need to fall back on standard pink or blue. Why not consider getting creative in the nursery? Following are a few suggestions for painting your baby’s room.

Black, White and Bright
When children are born, their eyesight is still developing, and they are naturally drawn to high-contrast patterns. Try painting the walls white and decorating them with a variety of geometric shapes, swirl and spirals in black. Add a few splashes of bright primary color for interest. Alternatively you can use removable wall appliqués to achieve this affect, or create your own using easy-release shelf paper. That way you won’t have to worry about your artwork bleeding through when it’s time to repaint.

Classic Neutrals
Updating modern classics with contrasting or complimentary shades is easy thanks to the wide variety of designer paints and paint matching techniques now available. Consider using a pale rose or periwinkle with soft green and brown accents for a nursery that will grow gracefully into a child’s room. Adding crown molding as a chair rail is an easy way to divide walls for painting in different colors. Or paint a series of unfinished bookcases that fit beneath the rail and use them to store books, clothes and toys.

Designer Looks for Less
If you are truly feeling creative and want to craft a one-of-a-kind nursery without breaking your budget, consider doing the work by yourself. Tutorials are available in books, magazines and online for many designer looks. Wallpaper borders are inexpensive and can make a room feel pulled-together. Get a similar look with stencils, or cut figures from wallpaper to place wall accents around the room. Babies love to look at faces, so don’t forget to frame and hang a few family portraits. They also enjoying looking at themselves, so wall mounting a sturdy mirror is another option.

Murals and Ceilings
Screen-printed murals are available in a variety of designs that are custom-made to fit your walls and attach seamlessly. Perhaps you’d prefer a hand-painted mural or ceiling. A baby blue sky with puffy white clouds or a midnight blue “starry night” with brilliant yellow stars are both simple and striking effects. Use specialty paint to convert a small wall into a “chalkboard” for charting feedings. Later on your little one can doodle on the walls worry-free. If you like the idea of a hand-painted mural but don’t consider yourself a Picasso, contact the art department at your local community college. Talk to the instructors or post a “help wanted” ad on the bulletin board. Just be sure to look at your artist’s portfolio before engaging her.

The arrival of a new baby is a joyous and momentous event. Preparing the nursery for your new addition is a wonderful way to showcase your creativity while waiting to greet your precious little boy or girl whether you live in a Hampton rental or a house you own.
