Do you ever....

...splurge?

We have to admit the majority of our houses are filled with thrifted furniture, repurposed decor, handmade crafts and home improvements done by yours truly.

B U T,  it is nice once-in-a-while to purchase something at full price!
Right?
Anyone....?
Bueller?
:)

So a few weeks ago we were window shopping at our newest fav furniture store in Chandler {The Crowded House} and Kelli spotted this clock that she "had to have" until she peeked at the price tag.  She frowned and we kept browsing.  Uh oh, the SAME clock in another spot on the floor and her heart went pitter patter... I know because we're twins and I could feel the rush of excitement she was feeling for this piece ;)

How much would you have paid for it?
Sixty dollars?
More?
Less?

How about a whoppin' two hundred?
Is that absolutely crazy ...OR... do you justify the reward in earning it with Lolly funds that you worked hard through late night blogging, editing, posting, cutting vinyl, tweeting, facebooking, etc.

Well, as you can see.... by the looks of it hanging proudly in Kelli's kitchen, we justified like mad! lol

NOTE: We are both frugal/borderline CHEAP so there was a LOT of back 'n forth chatter about whether to make the purchase or not.

But, as a bonus, it's already been used as a photography prop for our newest arrival of a sweet pea nephew:

Who is with us?
Do YOU ever splurge?
Or are you still in sticker shock and now think we're completely nuts? ;)

Do tell!
XO

  1. I would have bought it too!!! I actually saw a clock very similar in style and price, but in turquoise, and totally would have bought it if I had had a spot for it!

  4. I don't think there's anything wrong with splurging every once in a while! I usually justify my purchases by thinking about all the money I've saved thrifting and making everything else. The piece has to be really special for me to spend a lot of money, but then I know I'll love it and be proud to own it...I think that makes it worth it.

Absolutely necessary!! :) All of the money we save up thrifting, DIYing, and being our own personal designer/builder/therapist is definitely justifiable for these seldom splurges that make it all worth it!! :) Good for you!!

  7. I have never splurged in my life. (Why did my nose just grow!?!) I ABSOLUTELY would have splurged on that, too! Totally worth it! I agree with everyone else, with all the money you save by being thrifty you pretty much earned it in my book. ;) Love the baby announcement, too! ADORABLE!

  8. Absolutely! I bought a Pottery Barn wall clock as big as that one for about $250 last year and I was so glad I did. LOVE it.

  9. That's WHY you work so hard. So you can justify the splurge every once in a while! I love it!

  10. I never let myself splurge. I wish I could let go enough. Thankfully, my husband splurges for me once in a while.

That clock is gorgeous- I'm glad you did because you deserve it!

  11. I for one [this is Kelli writing] am SO relieved you all agree!

I was spazzing out at the price after I got home. I have a really, really hard time buying things for myself and recently splurged on name brand lotion at Bath & Body Works for the FIRST TIME, even though it was on sale, lol!

Yay for once in awhile splurges! Of course it was HOME DECOR ;)

Love my supportive blog sisters! xoxo

  12. I think splurging is a must. As long as you are 100% happy with your splurge than go for it! I do think splurging should be done with cash and not charged. That would be my only rule I guess. We all work hard every and deserve a reward.

The clock is fabulous so I think it was a good choice. It looks even better next to that adorable little baby!

  16. I have to admit that although I probably would not have has the guts to make the splurge, I am so very glad you did! That announcement is amazing with the clock as a prop! My splurge item will be a brand new silhouette machine one of these days. Still just trying to think of the excuse I'll have to give hubby!
