Chalkboard with a twist!

So we've all seen THIS cute standard chalkboard and knew it would be the perfect bridal shower gift for a cousin's upcoming party {she told us her kitchen theme is yellow/green apples}. A lightbulb went off and we thought, "Hey let's make this sucker even more functional!" Then we added a mini picture/invite/appt reminder holder:


First, I painted the cupboard with chalkboard paint as well as a cheery yellow to match the bride-to-be's main house color:


Then, we added a fun apple embellishment {to match her decor}


with a coordinating quote:

Next, we screwed a 1/2" screw on either side of the top of the board:


Lastly, we wrapped simply wire around the screws for an easy peasy hanger! Tip: You could tie ribbon as another option.


We scrawled a simple message in chalk, added some matching painted clothespins and there you have it!
