Cake stand, Cloches... clever.

Last week I went to a church yard sale and got a candlestick and a cake platter for F-R-E-E (awesome!) and knew right away they were a match made in craft heaven.
I kept seeing these cute posts about cloches (like here at A Little Stone House and here at Tattered and Ink'd) and thought, "Suhweet!  I can do that!" so with a bit of Rust-oleum Heirloom white spray paint and Liquid Nails...
... viola!
My version of a cloche:
[Hmmm, I'm afraid it is a bit TALL... since I'm a new to cloches, what do you pro's think?]
I also recently discovered THIS darling site {Fresh Poppy Design} and saw these creative sisters idea of spray painting a plain jane cake stand:
 Clever!
My cake stand base is kind of grandma looking so I copycatted and just L.O.V.E the end result!
Thanks for the idea gals ;)
Note: I still use mine for food by simply putting a paper doily or wax paper underneath the dessert ;)

Best friends forever.
Looks like my baby showers, bridal showers and parties just got CuTeR for FREE!

  3. I love the cloche...and I'm glad that I now know that's what it's called-I always called it a cake plate. :) I like that it's kind-of tall. If you put it next to the other cake plate you spray painted, it would make a cute serving station for a party table, like a grouping of desserts. Does that even make sense?!?

    Great job Kel!

  12. So fabulous. I must live in the one place where cheese domes do not end up in the thrift store. I want to make some of these and no domes, cake plates or big bowls even to be found!

  13. So cute Kel! I just made one because of this post. The glue is drying... hope it turns out just as cute. Mine cost about $10, since I didn't have the paint or glue. And the glass dome was at Goodwill for $3. You guys rock! Keep it up!
